National Harbor - planning & design

Lenhart Traffic Consulting (LTC) completed an array of traffic planning and engineering design services in support of the Master Plan of the National Harbor Waterfront and assisted in the preparation for the MGM Casino Grand Opening.  The work was completed based on bi-weekly team meetings at National Harbor where LTC staff were updated on current issues and responded with appropriate traffic analyses to provide targeted improvement recommendations.  Prior to the Grand Opening of MGM, LTC worked with National Harbor, SHA, Prince George’s County and other stakeholders to refine traffic plans for the casino.

Other projects included concept design for geometric improvements along National Harbor Boulevard (the main access roadway into National Harbor), traffic management upgrades at a number of existing traffic signals to allow for changeable lane use, as well as signing and pavement marking upgrades so that the general feel of the National Harbor roadway system catered to international clientele.  The firm also conducted planning-level analyses and concept design to support major long-term improvements to maintain traffic operations on the surrounding interstate system.  In addition, LTC provided a comprehensive review of pedestrian facilities and connectivity within the National Harbor.

LIDL Grocery - Engineering & Permitting

Lenhart Traffic Consulting (LTC) provided a variety of traffic engineering and permitting services to Lidl, a major international grocer with more than 10,000 stores in 27 countries, in support of their initial expansion into the United States.  Due to LTC's expertise in navigating the development process in Maryland, the firm was selected to support the retailer for multiple stores in Anne Arundel, Charles, and Prince George’s Counties.  LTC's services included conducting traffic impact studies for each store and developing traffic control device design plans for site access points and any required mitigation improvements.  The firm also coordinated with applicable agencies in order to obtain required access permits.

Melford Tower

Melford Village - Impact StudY and Design

The firm completed multiple traffic studies and used the results to derive the ultimate traffic configurations for the Melford Village development.  The firm developed concept geometry which removed a high-speed ramp from Crain Highway (MD 3) as well as an existing roundabout at the intersection of Melford Bouelvard at Science Drive.  Lenhart Traffic Consulting is now assisting in developing design plans to support permitting of the improvements.
